GUIDELINES
The following provides information on who is eligible for resident classification at the University of California.
NEW STUDENTS
A Statement of Legal Residence (SLR) is required of all degree-seeking students at the University of California. Official residence determinations are made only after the student's SLR is reviewed and any requested documentation is received by the University Registrar's office.
Online Statement of Legal Residence
Students readmitting after an absence of one year or more must also resubmit the SLR.
CONTINUING STUDENTS
Nonresident students currently attending UCI and who have completed at least one term at UCI may file a Petition for Resident Classification with the
University Registrar's office, once they feel that they have met all UC residence requirements. Deadlines for filing the Petition are generally two weeks
before the fee payment deadline for each term the student is requesting reclassification.
