Terms and Definitions
Accessing WebReg: The action of going online to WebReg. UCInetID and password and required.
Action Code: An enrollment function associated with adding or dropping a class, or changing the grade
option or variable units.
Adjustment Period: The time after the registration deadline and before classes begin when students may make modifications
to their class schedules.
Authentication: The process of verification used to identify an individual who subsequently may be given access
to confidential or private information.
Class Drop Deadline: At 4:30 p.m. on the fee payment deadline, students are dropped
from classes if their registration fees are not paid or hold(s) remain on their record.
Co-Class: Corequisite classes are related classes which must be taken concurrently and enrolled in during the same
enrollment session.
Co-Class Mismatch: Generally, you must select co-classes that are grouped together in the course listing
section of the Schedule of Classes, such as lecture A and its corresponding discussions. You will receive an error
message if you attempt to enroll in a section outside the grouping, such as lecture A and a discussion associated with
lecture B. You are advised to add the lecture first, then discussion and/or lab section.
Dean's Signature: Authorization from a student's dean of the student's major is required for late registration, on add/drop/change cards
after certain dates, and on most petitions. Undergraduate
students obtain the approval at the academic advising office for their major; graduate students should go to Graduate Division. The signature is valid for three working days.
Enrollment Menu: The location in WebReg where students enter add, drop, or change transactions to create
their preferred class schedule.
Enrollment Window: The day and time a student may first enroll in classes for the upcoming term.
Check WebReg or StudentAccess beginning the seventh week of the current quarter to find out when
you may begin enrolling in classes.
GSHIP: Graduate Student Health Insurance Program.
Late Enrollment Petition:This document, with dean's signature, is required for undergraduate and graduate
students when enrollment is effected after the end of the second week of classes.

Maximum Units/Course-Load Restrictions: Students must enroll for at least 12 units per quarter
to be considered full-time. Undergraduates are restricted to enrolling in maximum of 20 units and graduates to a maximum
of 16 units. To enroll in more than the maximum units, your academic dean's approval is required. See the

information about part-time status.
Menu: The options available at various points in the registration system, such as selecting the applicable
term or the enrollment choices.
Non-Prime Time: After a student's enrollment window is open for 48 hours, s/he is restricted to accessing
WebReg during non-prime time 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. until all students' windows are open.
"Not Eligible": This error message indicates that a required prerequisite course or condition has not been
met and enrollment in the selected course is not permitted.

Registration: Registration at UCI consists of two steps: payment of fees and enrollment in classes. Both steps
must be completed before you are considered officially registered.
Restrictions: Be sure that you meet all enrollment restrictions, including prerequisites, for classes in which
you wish to enroll. Refer to the Schedule of Classes course listing pages for course restrictions. If a class has two
restrictions and they are separated by "and" (&), you must fulfill both restrictions. The separator "or" (/) means that
you must fulfill one of the other of the two restrictions. NOTE: An authorization code overrides all restrictions
except "P".
StudentAccess: UCI Students with a valid UCInetID and password may view/update their personal information,
class schedule, grades, and other important information on StudentAccess.
Student Record Hold: A restriction placed on a student's academic record that prevents transactions such as enrollment
in classes, payment of fees, and/or obtaining other University services.
Tentative Enrollment: Conditional enrollment in one section of a co-class group. Before you end the enrollment
session you must successfuly add required co-classes or you will be dropped from all sections.
Time Conflicts: You must have the permission of the instructor to add a class which would cause a time conflict
in your existing schedule. Use the add card method to enroll in a conflict, or, in some cases, the department may wish to
authorize the add.
USHIP: Undergraduate Student Health Insurance Program.
Waitlist System: Students are able to place themselves on a waitlist if a class is full. When/if space becomes
available, the student at the top of the list is automatically added to the class.
WebReg: UCI's web-based registration system.
ZOTBill: The Statement of account that provides necessary information to pay quarterly registration fees.
ZOTAccountOnline: The web-based system for viewing charges and credits to a student's account. Information
currently displayed on Zot Account Online includes registration fees and related
transactions. If your ZOTBill or ZOT Account Online indicates that you have a past due debt or financial hold, you can
view the details online via Financial Services' Quick Search.
