Changing your Major Last Updated:  May 14, 2007, 8:54 AM PDT

Some majors have change-of-major criteria formally approved by the Council on Educational Policy (CEP) that are more restrictive than the default criterion, which is simply that students wishing to change their majors be in good academic standing. Please view the currently-approved criteria for these exceptional majors.

Complete an Undergraduate Petition for Change of Major and submit it to the academic counseling office in the school or program in which you want to major. If your petition is approved, the Change of Major form is sent to the Registrar's Office, where your academic record is updated to reflect the change. You may obtain a petition at the Registrar's Office (215 Aldrich Hall) or at the counseling office.

A request for a double major must have the approval of both schools or programs before submission to the Registrar's Office.

*Note: Incomplete forms will be returned to the school or program which may cause a delay in processing your request.
